ORAL SURGERY & TEETH REMOVAL

We can gently remove troublesome teeth and offer tooth-replacement options. If you require more specialised care, we can refer you to our professional network of specialist Maxillofacial colleagues.

Tooth Extractions

We will only extract a tooth when we have exhausted all other options. As dentistry has evolved, new methods such as root canal therapy can be used rather than tooth extraction. If other options are not possible and an extraction is required, at your appointment we will determine if you require a simple extraction or surgical extraction.

Simple extractions can be done when the tooth still has an appropriate amount of structure remaining and are generally done under a local anaesthetic. Surgical extraction is required when the tooth is broken off at gum level, is only partially showing through the gum, or when there could be other more complex anatomy and risks applied to you. This procedure is also done under a local aesthetic, but requires the gum to be pulled back and the tooth removed.

Wisdom Teeth Removal

Unless you are one of the lucky few who never had wisdom teeth or their wisdom teeth have grown through without problems, chances are you are going to need at least one removed in your lifetime.

In most cases, there isn’t enough room for wisdom teeth to grow through or they can erupt on an angle. Either way, this can cause a lot of pain, discomfort, and affect the other nearby teeth. Another issue with wisdom teeth is that they often have decay present as they are located at the back of the mouth and may be difficult to clean. If you are having problems with your wisdom teeth, book a consultation with us today so we can advise you on how to best go forward.
